Squad 44

On Saturday, December 5th, Springfield Fire Company placed the new Squad 44, 2009 Sutphen Rescue/Pumper, into service. Squad 44 replaces the 1999 Sutphen Rescue/Pumper which was sold in December 2008. The apparatus was purchased by the Springfield Township Firefighter’s Relief Association. Squad 44 is the first responding unit on all calls involving motor vehicles (accidents, fires and fuel spills), brush fires, trash fires and hazardous materials incidents. Squad 44 is also the first responding unit to all incidents the fire company is dispatched to on Interstate 476 (Blue Route). Some of the features of Squad 44 are: 6 person crew cab, 1500 GPM pump, 600 gallon water tank, 30 gallon foam tank, Hale Foam Logix system, 10kw Onan hydraulic generator, 2000 watt Will Burt light tower, 3 – 750 watt cab mounted quartz lights, 12,000 lb front bumper mounted winch, 3 – preconnected 1 3/4″ hose lines, 800′ of 3″ supply line, Holmatro rescue tools, stokes basket, AED, medical equipment, 2 – Bullard Thermal Imaging Cameras, oil dry and assorted hand tools.
