Second Accident of the Night Injures Five

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Saturday, October 13th at 02:03 hours to North State Road (Route 1) and West Springfield Road for a Motor Vehicle Accident. With units still operating on scene of the North Rolling Road accident, Engine 44-4 responded to the accident. Upon arrival of Springfield Police, two vehicles were in the intersection after a head-on collision and one subject was reported trapped inside one vehicle. Engine 44-4 arrived on location and established State Road Command.
Firefighters from Engine 44-4 evaluated the scene and had one injured subject inside one vehicle and four more injured subjects outside the other vehicle. Rescue 44 and Utility 44 arrived on location and assisted on the scene.
A total of 5 ambulances and 5 medic units were needed on the scene to transported the injured subjects. Firefighters assisted EMS crews from Ambulance 44-7A, 53-7 (Marple), 23-7 (Media), 34-7 (Llanarch) and 43-7 (Holmes). Medics units from 103 (DCMH), 108 (Haverford), 102 (Taylor) assisted on the scene.
Firefighters remained on the scene until 03:03 hours.
