Kennerly Road House Damaged by Fire

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Wednesday, April 25th at 09:00 hours to 330 Kennerly Road for a Residential Fire Alarm.  Upon arrival of Springfield Police, fire was showing from the front of the two story split level home.  Chief 44-9 established Springfield Command and had Company 44 redispatched for the Working Fire which also dispatched Company 14 (Swarthmore) and Company 23 (Media) for the Rapid Intervention Team.

Engine 44-1 laid a 5" supply line into the fire scene and went into service with an 1 3/4" hose line.  Firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions on the second floor of the dwelling with fire extending into the attic area.  Firefighters from Tower 14 provided ventilation of the roof area and laddered the structure.

Springfield Command had the second alarm assignment dispatched which brought Company 53 (Broomall) and Company 52 (Brookhaven) for the Air Bank into the scene.

Firefighters were able to contained the fire to the second floor area with minor fire extension into the attic area.  Firefighters performed extensive salvage and overhaul operations.

The fire is under investigation by Springfield Township's Fire Marshals office.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 11:30 hours.

Units operating on the scene were:  Engine 44-1, Tower 14, Engine 44-2, Utility 44, Snorkel 23, Snorkel 53, Rescue 52, Ambulance 44-7, Medic 106, Medic 102, Springfield Police, Fire Police, and Springfield Township Fire Marshal Car 1.

Company 03 (Clifton Heights) and Company 43 (Holmes) provided stand by coverage at Station 44 during the fire.
