Three Car Accident Traps One Driver

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Tuesday, August 21st, at 22:00 hours to South State Road (Route 1) and Collins Drive for a Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment.  Upon arrival of Springfield Police and Chief 44-9 there was a three car accident in the intersection with one driver trapped inside his vehicle.

Chief 44-9 established Command and Chief 44-9B operated as the Rescue Officer on the scene.  TAC 44 arrived on location and started stabilization of the one vehicle and set-up for extrication operations.  Firefighters from Rescue 44, Utility 44 and Engine 44-1 assisted with the rescue operation.  Firefighters removed the driver-side door of the one vehicle to allow for EMS personnel to remove the driver.

A total of three people were injured from the accident.  EMS crews from Ambulance 44-7, Ambulance 53-7 (Marple EMS), Ambulance 104-7 (Riddle EMS), Medic 106 (Springfield Hospital) and Medic 53 assisted on the scene and transported the injured to Crozer Chester Medical Center.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 22:45 hours.  The accident is under investigation by Springfield Police Department.  Springfield Fire Company would like to thank the members of Woodlyn Fire Company that assisted on the scene.
