Mid Morning House Fire in Clifton Heights

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched to assist Clifton Heights Fire Company on Friday, April 13th, at 09:30 hours at 341 North Oak Avenue for a Structure Fire.  Upon arrival of Ambulance 03-7, smoke was showing from the 1st and 2nd floors of the 2 story twin dwelling with heavy fire in the basement area of the one dwelling.

Engine 44-1 arrived on location and placed an 1 3/4" hose line into service in the basement area of the house.  Firefighters from Tower 74 provided a supply line to Engine 44-1 and started ventilation and searching for fire extension to the upper floors.  Firefighters from Engine 03-2, Tower 44 and Pipeline 19 assisted with additional manpower and placed additional 1 3/4" hose lines into service on the first and second floors.

Firefighter were able to gain control of the fast moving fire and performed extensive salvage and overhaul operations checking for fire extension through out dwelling.

The fire dwelling sustained extensive damage and the attached home sustained smoke damage through out the structure.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighter remained on the scene until 12:25 hours.
