Fire Company on Lownes Lane Twice within 2 Hours

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched to the Unit Block of Lownes Lane on Friday, February 23rd, at 17:29 hours for a Dwelling Fire, Fumes inside the Building.  Upon arrival of Engine 44-1, firefighters started investigating the home for a possible carbon monoxide problem.  Firefighters quickly started to find readings of carbon monoxide inside the home and worked to remove the occupants from the dwelling.

Firefighters from Tower 44 and Quint 03 (Clifton Heights) assisted the EMS personnel from Ambulance 44-7 and Ambulance 03-7 with removing the homeowners and continued looking for the source of the problem.  Once the source was located, a blocked chimney, firefighters shut down the heater unit and started ventilating the structure.

The homeowners were transported to Springfield Hospital for observation for exposure to carbon monoxide.

Springfield Firefighters were not clear from Lownes Lane for more than two hours when the company was dispatched at 19:53 hours to another address in the Unit Block of Lownes Lane for a Building Fire.  Engine 44-1 arrived on location and had a smoke condition inside the dwelling.  The homeowners had problems with a wood burning fire place in the family room of the home.

Firefighters quickly determined the source of the problem to be a chimney flue that was closed.  Firefighters from Engine 44-1, Tower 44 and Engine 44-2 extinguished the remaining fire inside the chimney firebox and ventilated the residence.

Springfield Firefighters were finished with the emergencies on Lownes Lane for the night at 20:23 hours.
