Assist to Swarthmore on Dartmouth Avenue House Fire Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Thursday, January 4th, at 19:58 hours to assist Swarthmore Fire Company (Company 14) at 11 Dartmouth Avenue for the House Fire. Delaware County 911 advised responding companies that the building was being evacuated and that Swarthmore Police were on scene with heavy smoke showing. Engine 14-1 arrived on location and placed an 1 3/4" hose line into service on the first floor of the structure. Engine 13-1 (Rutledge) laid a supply to Engine 14-1 while firefighters from Tower 44 started laddering the building. Additional manpower from Company 14, Company 44, Company 11 (Morton) and Company 13 assisted on the scene. Company 53 (Broomall) stood by as the Rapid Intervention Team. Firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire to the original fire room and performed extensive overhaul operations checking for any extension to the second floor. Firefighters remained on the scene until 22:30 hours. Companies operating on the scene were: Company 14, Company 44, Company 11, Company 13, Company 53 RIT, Medic 102, Swarthmore Police and Sixth District Fire Police. |
