Run for Heroes, LLC honors Fire Company Running Team

The Run for Heroes, LLC honored the Springfield Fire Company Running Team at the December 12th Commissioner's Meeting at the Springfield Township Building.  The Springfield Fire Company running team successfully defended the Top Emergency Responder Team Cup at the annual 5k Run/Walk for Heroes race on October 15th, 2006.  This was the third consecutive year in which the Fire Company has won the Team Cup.  Running Team members Lt. Matthew LeTourneau, Safety Officer John Hammell and Firefighter Joseph Fraatz accepted the award on behalf of the five member running team and the Fire Company.

The Springfield Fire Company running team for the past three years has been Lt. Matthew LeTourneau, Safety Officer John Hammell, Firefighters Bill Lavery, Jamie Stapleton and Joseph Fraatz.  Springfield Fire Company also had a total of 31 participants in the race this year.  Members, wives and children participated for a great cause.

Springfield Fire Company would like to thank Run for Heroes, LLC which helped raise $28,000 for the Hero Scholarship Fund.  The annual race has been the largest contributor to the Hero Scholarship Fund for the past 6 years.  Springfield Fire Company looks forward to defending the Team Cup again next year and helping raise the contribution total for the Hero Scholarship Fund pass this year's total.
