Two Alarm Fire Damages Mansion on Springton Reservoir Springfield Firefighters were dispatched early Sunday, November 12th at 01:15 hours on the second alarm assignment to assist Company 73 (Rose Tree) at 184 Dam View Drive in Upper Providence for a Working House Fire. Chief 73 arrived on location with a large mansion style home with heavy smoke showing. First arriving units from Company 73, Company 23 (Media) and Company 41 (Newtown Square) started an interior attack on the fire and started ventilation operations on the roof. The second alarm assignment, Company 44, Company 64 (Edgmont) and Company 52 (Brookhaven),. were dispatched to assist with manpower and an additional Rapid Intervention Team. The large size of the structure with numerous cathedral ceilings and numerous void spaces challenged firefighters to gain control of the fire. Firefighters pulled numerous walls and ceilings and opened up the roof in multiple areas to cut off fire spread throughout the structure. Dam View Drive Command placed the fire under control within 1 hour and firefighters remained on the scene performing salvage and overhaul operations. Springfield Firefighters were on the scene until 03:45 hours. The fire is under investigatiion by Upper Providence Township's Fire Marshal. Companies operating on the scene were: Company 73, Company 23, Company 41, Company 44, Company 64, Company 52, Company 69 (Lima), Company 47 Canteen (Chester Twp.), Medic 104-7 (Riddle Memorial Hospital) and Upper Providence Police. Company 03 (Clifton Heights) provided stand by coverage at Station 44 while Company 44 was operating at the scene. |
