Firefighters Contain Morning House Fire and Rescue a Family Pet Springfield Firefighters were alerted to 300 block of Parham Road at 06:53 hours on Friday, November 3rd for a House Fire. Upon arrival of Captain 44-12, heavy smoke was showing from the 2 story split level residence and fire was showing in the kitchen area of the home. The resident of the home advised Springfield Police officers that her dog was still inside the home. Engine 44-1 arrived on location and went into service with an 1 3/4 hose line, attacking the fast moving fire. Firefighters from Tower 44 assisted the crew from Engine 44-1 with the hose line and opening up walls and ceilings in the home to cut off the fire from extending to the upper levels of the home. Firefighter from Company 03 (Clifton Heights) assisted firefighters from Tower 44 with ventilation on the exterior of the home. Firefighters from Rescue 43 (Holmes) stood by as the Rapid Intervention Team on the fireground. Firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire and also located the home owners dog on the stairs of the home. Firefighters alerted EMS personnel on the scene to the dog and personnel from Medic 106 (Springfield Hospital) and Ambulance 03-7 provided oxygen to the dog and transported the dog to a local veterinarian for treatment. The home owner was transported to the hospital by Ambulance 44-7 for smoke inhalation. The fire was contained to the kitchen and dining room area of the home. Firefighters performed extensive salvage and overhaul operations checking for any fire extension. The fire is under investigation by Springfield Township Fire Marshal's office. Firefighters remained on the scene until 09:00 hours. Units operating on the scene were:
