Firefighters Extricate Driver Involved in Mid-Day Crash

Springfield Firefighters were dispatched on Wednesday, November 1st, at 13:09 hours to Powell Road and East Woodland Avenue for a Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment.  TAC 44 arrived on the scene and had a two vehicle accident in the intersection with the driver of one vehicle entrapped.

Firefighters started medical care for the driver and stabilized the vehicle to prepare for rescue operations.  Firefighters used the Holmatro rescue tools to remove the two doors on the drivers side and center roof post ("B" post) to provide room for removal of the driver.  Firefighters from Rescue 44 assisted with the rescue operations.  Firefighters from Rescue 43 (Holmes) stood-by on the scene and assisted EMS crews with patient removal.  Ambulance 44-7A and Medic 106 (Springfield Hospital) transported the driver to the hospital for treatment.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 13:39  hours.

Units operating on the scene were:  TAC 44, Rescue 44, Utility 44, Ambulance 44-7A, Medic 106, Rescue 43, Springfield Police and Fire Police.
