Fatal Accident on Eagle Road

Springfield Firefighters were finishing up with a call on South Rolling Road when the 911 Center dispatched the Company at 10:22 hours to Eagle Road and Reed Road for a Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment.  Engine 44-1 cleared South Rolling Road and responded to the accident.  Upon arrival, there was a two vehicle accident in the intersection and the driver of the one vehicle was trapped.

Firefighters from Rescue 44 started stabilization of the scene and assisted Engine 44-1 and Medic 53 (Marple Twp. EMS) with the trapped driver.  After assessment, Medic 53 determined the injuries to be fatal to the driver.  EMS crews attended to the occupants of the other vehicle and transported one subject to Crozer Chester Medical Center.

Springfield firefighters stood by on the scene and assisted Springfield Police and the County Medical Examiner.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 11:52 hours.

Units operating on the scene were:  Engine 44-1, Rescue 44, TAC 44, Medic 53, Ambulance 53-7, Springfield Police and Fire Police and Delaware County's Medical Examiner.

This call was one of eight calls that Springfield Firefighters responded on in a six hour period starting at 10:00 hours.
