Driver Extricated in Single Vehicle Accident on Route 1 Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Monday morning, August 14th, at 06:20 hours to South State Road (Route 1) and Collins Drive for a Motor Vehicle Accident. Upon arrival of Upper Providence Police, the accident was located on Route 1 Northbound just prior to the I-476 overpass in Marple Township. Upon arrival of Chief 44-9B, the call was upgraded to an Accident with Entrapment. One vehicle had struck a tree just past the entrance ramp to I-476. Company 53 and Ambulance 53 were dispatched to assist on the call with the location now in Marple Township. Firefighters from TAC 44 stabilized the vehicle and placed the Holmatro rescue tools into service. Firefighters quickly opened the drivers side door to provide access for EMS crews and to allow for the removal of the driver. Firefighters from Engine 44-1 and Utility 44 assisted on the scene. Ambulance 44-7 and Medic 106 transported the driver to Crozer Chester Medical Center. Company 53 and Marple Township EMS units stood by on the scene. Firefighters remained on the scene until 06:50 hours. Units operating on the scene were: TAC 44, Engine 44-1, Utility 44, Ambulance 44-7, Medic 106, Springfield Police, Marple Police and Upper Providence Police. |
