Assist to Morton on House Struck by Lightning Springfield Firefighters , returning from a call in Clifton Heights Boro, were dispatched at 16:00 hours to the 600 block of Highland Avenue in Morton Boro for a House Fire. Also dispatched on the call were Company 11 (Morton), Company 13 (Rutledge), Company 14 (Swarthmore) and Company 49 RIT (Milmont). Engine 44-1 arrived on location with Chief 11-9A and had smoke showing from a two story home with reports of the house being struck by lightning. The fire was contained to this area and there was no extension into the attic area. Firefighters from Tower 44 were sent to the roof of the dwelling to start roof ventilation, but interior firefighters cancelled the need for the ventilation because the fire was contained to the second floor area.
