Assist on Second Alarm in Upper Providence Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Saturday, July 1st, at 10:40 hours to assist Rose Tree Fire Company (Company 73) in the 2500 block of North Providence Road for a working house fire. Company 44 was dispatched along with Company 64 (Edgmont) and Rescue 52 (Brookhaven) on the second alarm assignment. Company 73, Company 23 (Media) and Company 41 (Newtown Square) were dispatched to the location for the report of an odor of smoke inside the residence. Upon arrival of Chief 73-9, smoke was showing from the exterior of the dwelling, with a working fire in the lower level of a 2 1/2" story split level home. Firefighter started an interior attack on the fire and performed ventilation operations to cut off the spread of fire thru the rest of the dwelling. Firefighters from Company 44 assisted on the scene with manpower. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within one hour. Extensive overhaul operations were performed opening up numerous walls within the dwelling checking for fire extension to the upper levels. Springfield firefighters remained on the scene until 13:00 hours. Companies operating on the scene were: Company 73, Company 23, Company 41, Company 44, Company 64, Company 52, Company 51 (South Media), Medic 104-7, Upper Providence Police and 6th District Fire Police. |
