Head On Crash On Bishop Avenue

Springfield Firefighters were dispatched early Friday morning, June 23rd, at 02:24 hours for a Motor Vehicle Accident at North Bishop Avenue and East Springfield Road.  Upon arrival of Chief 44-9A and 44-9B, the call was upgraded to an Accident with entrapment.  Two vehicles had struck head on and the passenger side door of one vehicle needed to be removed to extricate one subject.

TAC 44 arrived on location, stabilized the vehicle and placed the Holmatro rescue tools into service to remove the passenger side door.  Firefighters from Rescue 44 assisted the crew from TAC 44.  Firefighters assisted EMS crews from Ambulance 44-7, 44-7A, Medic 106 (Springfield) and Medic 103-7B (DCMH) with patient removal.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 03:09 hours.  The accident is under investigation by Springfield Police Department.

Units operating on the scene were: TAC 44, Rescue 44, Ambulance 44-7, 44-7A, Medic 106, Medic 103-7B, Springfield Police and Upper Darby Township Police.
