Firefighters Battle Midday House Fire in Clifton Heights

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched to assist Clifton Heights Fire Company (Company 03) on Wednesday, April 26th at 14:02 hours, in the 100 block of North Diamond Street for a Structure Fire.  Upon arrival of Clifton Heights Police, smoke and fire was showing from a two story building in the rear of 109 North Diamond Street.

Quint 03 arrived on location and went into service with an 1 3/4" hose line.  Firefighters from Engine 74-1 (Primos Secane) laddered the structure and started ventilation on the roof.  Engine 44-1 laid a 5" supply line from the hydrant at Fairview Avenue and North Diamond Street to Quint 03 and then assisted with laddering the structure and ventilating the second floor.  Firefighters from Pipeline 19 (Lansdowne) assisted with a second 1 3/4" hose line off of Quint 03.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the second floor kitchen area with some minor extension into the attic area above the kitchen.  Firefighters had the fire under control within 20 minutes and were in service for another hour performing salvage and overhaul operations.

Units operating on the scene were:  Quint 03, Engine 74-1, Engine 44-1, Pipeline 19, Engine 03-2, Engine 03-1, Rescue 16 (Yeadon), Ambulance 03-7, Ambulance 19-7, Medic 103-7 (DCMH) and Clifton Heights Police.
