Members Attend National Instructors Conference Two Springfield Fire Company members attended the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) in Indianapolis, Indiana on Sunday April 10th thru Saturday, April 16th. Captain Keith Thomas and Lieutenant Matthew LeTourneau attended the FDIC conference this year, which is the largest Fire Service Conference held each year in the country. Captain Thomas participated in two, one-day long workshops on Monday and Tuesday and attended numerous classroom training workshops on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Captain Thomas was also a speaker at the FDIC for a second consecutive year, presenting his program on the Anatomy of an Electric Shock. Lieutenant LeTourneau participated in three different Hands On Training (HOT) programs on Monday and Tuesday. The HOT Training is the largest training program in the country were firefighters are giving the opportunity to practice drills and training exercises in acquired structures and training facilities through out the Indianapolis metropolitan area. Over 1500 firefighters participated in the HOT training programs. Lieutenant LeTourneau also attended numerous classroom training workshops on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The training that members of Springfield Fire Company have received while attending the FDIC conference this year and in previous years has been very beneficial to all the members of the Company and to the citizens of Springfield Township. Members have been able to bring new training ideas, drills and innovative concepts back to the membership to continue to improve the knowledge and skills of all the firefighters within Springfield Fire Company. |
