Multi-Vehicle Accident on I-476 - This is Only a Drill

Springfield Fire Company participated in a multiple company training exercise on Sunday, August 14th in the rear parking lot of Cardinal O'Hara High School.  The training exercise was set-up by Broomall Fire Company and also involved Rescue Company's from South Media Fire Company and Manoa Fire Company.  EMS units from Marple Township, Springfield Ambulance Corps and Haverford Township also participated.

The training exercise was simulating a multiple vehicle accident on Interstate 476.  All emergency personnel were given various assignments during the exercise and worked together to bring the incident under control.

The training exercise and the extreme heat conditions really tested the skills of all emergency personnel.  Some personnel required medical attention for heat exhaustion.  The members of Springfield Fire Company were glad to participate in the exercise.  With the new rescue equipment in service and recent training that our members have received on the new equipment, the members involved were very happy with the success of their assignments during the drill.
