2005 Sutphen Heavy Rescue Delivered

On Saturday, July 23rd, the Sutphen Corporation of Columbus, Ohio, delivered the 2005 Sutphen heavy rescue to Station 44.  The apparatus was purchased by the Springfield Township Fireman's Relief Association.  The truck is replacing the 1991 Pierce rescue truck that was sold to Holmes Fire Company in April 2005.

The apparatus will now have the vehicle lettering completed by Charlie Mullen.  Once all equipment is mounted and the members receive training on the new apparatus, it will be placed into service.  A formal housing ceremony will take place in September, 2005.

The 2005 Sutphen heavy rescue includes:  6 person split-tilt crew cab, 2 - 15 kilowatt Onan hydraulic generators, 2 - 6 kilowatt light towers, Detroit Diesel 60 Series engine rated at 490 horsepower, 4 6000 psi ASME air bottles that supply the Mako SCBA fill station, one low pressure and one high pressure air reel, 9000 pound Ramsey electric winch with 4 mounting locations around the truck.

The rescue is expected to be placed into service in the next two months.
