Accident Involving Trolley Traps One Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Thursday, May 12th, at 15:54 hours to West Leamy Avenue at the Septa Route 101 Trolley Line for an Accident involving a trolley. Chief 44-9 arrived on location and had one vehicle that was struck by the trolley with the driver trapped inside. Chief 44-9 had the call upgraded to an Accident with Entrapment Firefighters from TAC 44 arrived on location and stabilized the vehicle and started rescue operations with the Holmatro rescue tools. Firefighters on Engine 44-4 assisted with additional rescue equipment and manpower. Chief 44-9 had the next due rescue company dispatched to assist at the scene which brought Rescue 20 (Garrettford Drexel-Hill Fire Company) into the scene. Firefighters removed three doors, the roof and displaced the front dashboard area to gain access to the driver for removal. The trolley was moved away from the car to allow better access to the driver. EMS personnel from Medic 106 (Springfield Hospital), Medic 102 (Taylor Hospital) and Ambulance 44-7 accessed the driver during the rescue operation. Firefighters assisted EMS personnel with removal of the driver from the vehicle once the rescue operation was completed. The driver was transported to Crozer Chester Medical Center for observation. Two passengers on the trolley were transported by Ambulance 03-7 to Springfield Hospital for observation. Firefighters remained on scene until 16:58 hours. Units operating on the scene were: TAC 44, Engine 44-4, Ambulance 44-7, Medic 106, Medic 102, Medic 101 (Crozer Supervisor), Rescue 20, Ambulance 03-7, Springfield Police, Sixth District Fire Police and Septa Supervisors. |
