New Rescue Equipment Placed into Service Springfield Fire Company has placed the new Holmatro rescue tools into service on TAC 44 and Engine 44-4. Engine 44-4 is set-up as a rescue unit until the new 2005 Sutphen rescue truck is delivered in June. After using Hurst rescue tools since the mid-1970's, Springfield Fire Company made a change to Holmatro rescue tools when it came time to purchase new equipment for new Sutphen rescue truck. Springfield Fire Company members evaluated both rescue systems and found Holmatro's rescue equipment to be the better choice for the Company. The purchase of the rescue equipment was made possible by the Springfield Township Fireman's Relief Association. Springfield Firefighters have completed the 8 hour Holmatro training course, offered by the ESI Equipment of Jenkintown, for the new rescue equipment and on Tuesday, April 26th, the new tools were placed into service. Springfield Firefighters have greatly increased their capabilities on rescue incidents and have made the rescue systems portable. By making the rescue tools more portable, Springfield Firefighters can still have their maximum rescue capabilities no matter were the rescue incident is located.
