Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Sunday, April 3rd, at 18:25 hours to the Value City Department Store, 721 West Sproul Road for a Building Fire.  Upon arrival of Chief 44-9, a moderate smoke condition was visible inside the second floor security office area of the store.

Firefighters from Engine 44-1 used thermal imaging cameras to investigate the source of the smoke in the office area, while firefighters from Tower 44 started checking the exterior of the building.  Firefighters quickly located the source of the smoke in the facade area of the building where the main store sign is located on the exterior of the building.

Damage was contained to the facade area and the store sign.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 19:40 hours.
