Assist to Morton on Harding Avenue Dwelling Fire

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Wednesday, December 8th at 08:48 hours to assist Company 11 (Morton) at 120 Harding Avenue, Morton Boro for a Dwelling Fire. Upon arrival of Chief 13-9 (Rutledge), heavy smoke was showing from the basement of a one story split level home.
Firefighters from Tower 44 placed an 1 3/4" hose line in service thru a rear basement entrance while firefighters from Engine 11-1 and Engine 13-1 advanced a hose line thru the front door on the first floor. Firefighters were able to quickly control the fire in the basement area and started checking for extension into the first floor. Firefighters from Company 44 and Company 14 (Swarthmore) laddered the building, ventilated the structure and opened up a roof vent to help ventilate the attic area.
The fire was contained to the basement area with minor extension into a first floor bedroom. Firefighters preformed extension salvage and overhaul operations.
Springfield Firefighters remained on the scene until 11:00 hours.
Units operating on the scene were: Engine 11-1, Tower 44, Engine 13-1, Engine 44-1, Tower 14, Rescue 44, Medic 102, Ambulance 14-7, Company 43 (Rapid Intervention Team), and Engine 18-1.
