Assist to Broomall on Condo Fire

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on alarm 304-903 on Friday, November 26th at 10:03 hours to 3001 Monterey Court, Marple Township, to assist Company 53 (Broomall) on a Structure Fire.

Engine 44-1 arrived on location with heavy smoke showing from the roof area of a 2 story condominium building and fire showing from a two story utility room attached to the structure.  Firefighters from Engine 44-1 went into service with an 1 3/4" hose line to control the fire in the utility room from the exterior and laddered the building to start ventilation in the attic area of the structure.

Chief 53-9 established Command while firefighters from Tele-Squrt 53 and Tower 44 arrived, pulled a second  1 3/4" hose line, checked the apartments, and assisted with laddering and ventilation of the roof area.  Firefighters from Snorkel 53 also assisted on the roof.  Firefighters from 53-2 and Rescue 44 assisted with manpower on the scene.

Crews from Engine 14-2 stood-by as RIT Team and assisted crews on the roof.

Fire was contained to the two story utility structure and attic area of the two unit condo sectionOne condo sustained minor smoke and water damage.  The fire is under investigation by Marple Township's Fire Marshal.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 12:39 hours.

Units operating on the scene were:  Engine 44-1, Tele-Squrt 53, Tower 44, Snorkel 53, Rescue 44, Engine 53-2, Engine 14-2 (RIT), Ambulance 53-7, Medic 53.
