Springfield Fire Company participated in the fourth annual Greater Springfield Business Association 5K Run/Walk on October 17.   The event supports the Delaware County Hero Scholarship Fund and the Springfield Township Fund for the Elderly.

Springfield Fire Company had three teams participate in the race this year.  The Springfield Fire Company Running Team took home the top prize for Emergency Responder Running Teams.  The Running Team consisted of Lieutenant Matthew LeTourneau, Safety Officer John Hammell, Firefighter William Lavery, Firefighter Jamie Stapleton, and Firefighter Joe Fraatz.  The top three times, which were Firefighter Jamie Stapleton, Firefighter Joseph Fraatz and Lieutenant Matthew LeTourneau, made up the overall team time.  Springfield Fire Company was happy to bring home the Cup this year, ending the Springfield Police Department's two year strong hold of the Cup.  The two Springfield Fire Company Walking Teams finished strong and showed great support for a great cause.

Tower 44 provided an aerial view of the Start/Finish Line.   Springfield Ambulance Corps was also in attendance with members stationed throughout the course and on bicycles to provide assistance to any runners or walkers during the race.

Springfield Fire Company looks forward to next year when we will get our chance to defend the Cup.  Hope to see everyone at the race again next year.  Springfield Fire Company would like to thank all the sponsors and the Greater Springfield Business Association for another great race and for supporting our fallen emergency responders by supporting the Delaware County Hero Scholarship Fund.
