Firefighters Help Reload Steel

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Thursday, August 26th, at 13:47 hours to assist Springfield Police Department at South State Road and Meetinghouse Lane.  The Police Department was on location with a tractor trailer that had it's load of steel shift when the driver had to make a sudden stop because of a vehicle coming into his lane of travel.

The steel that was being transported on the flatbed trailer had shifted forward into the cab and the Police Department requested the Fire Company's assistance with moving the steel back onto the trailer so the vehicle could be moved from the highway and reloaded.

Firefighters from Rescue 44 and TAC 44 used the Winch on Rescue 44, chains and cribbing to secure and move the pieces of steel back onto the trailer without any damage to the tractor.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 14:30 hours.

Units operating on the scene were:  Rescue 44, TAC 44, Springfield Police, Fire Police and Springfield Township's Fire Marshal (Car 1).
