Assist to Clifton Heights on Fatal Fire

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on alarm #04-330 on Tuesday, May18th, at 05:08 hours to assist Clifton Heights Fire Company (Company) in the 100 block of East Baltimore Pike for a Working Building Fire.

Company 03, Company 74 (Primos Secane Fire Company) and Company 19 (Lansdowne Fire Company) were initially dispatched on the Building Fire reported with possible entrapment.  Clifton Heights Police arrived on scene and reported heavy fire and smoke showing in the rear of a two story twin structure and a subject trapped on the second floor.  Engine 74-1 and Quint 03 arrived on the scene and started an interior attack on the fire with an 1 3/4" hose line and performed search and rescue operations to locate the trapped resident.

Company 44 was dispatched to assist with manpower.  Engine 44-1 and Engine 44-2 assisted on the scene relieving initial crews inside and assisting with overhaul operations.

Firefighters contained the fire to the original fire building.  The trapped occupant was over come by smoke and heat before being located by firefighters and was pronounced at the scene.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 11:30 hours.  The fire is under investigation by Clifton Heights Police Department and Pennsylvania State Police.

Companies operating on the scene were:  Company 03, Company 74, Company 19, Company 44, Rescue 16 (Yeadon Fire Company Air Bank), Medic 103-7B, Clifton Heights Police, Delaware County Coroners Office and Pennsylvania State Police.
