Assist to Nether Providence on Industrial Accident at Water Works Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on alarm #04-170 on Monday, March 15th, at 13:19 hours for a Motor Vehicle Accident on Beatty Road at the Aqua Pennsylvania (former Philadelphia Suburban Water Company) Pumping Station. Chief 44, while responding, was advised by County 911 that the accident was possibly in Nether Providence Township at the construction site for Aqua America's Pumping Station. Chief 44 arrived on the scene and had a 50 ton track hoe on its side with the operator of the vehicle trapped inside the operator's cab. Rescue 44 arrived on location and secured the scene and started extrication of the operator. Chief 44 had South Media (Company 51) and Garden City Fire Company's (Company 65) dispatched since the incident was located in Nether Providence Township. Firefighters used Hurst Rescue Equipment and electric saw zalls to gain access to and extricate the operator. The operator was evaluated by medical personnel on the scene and transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Firefighters remained on the scene until 14:19 hours. Units operating on the scene were: Rescue 44, TAC 44, Medic 106, Ambulance 44-7, Rescue 51, Engine 65-2, Ambulance 23-7 (Media), Medic 23 and Nether Providence Police. |
