Assist to Morton for Smoke Inside the Residence Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on alarm #04-097 on Wednesday, February 11, at 21:01 hours to assist Morton Fire Company in the 200 Block of Fairhill Road for a Dwelling Fire. Upon arrival of Morton Police and Chief 11-9, smoke was showing inside the residence from an unknown source. Tower 44 and Engine 11-1 (Morton) arrived on the scene and started searching the home with thermal imaging cameras to locate the source. Firefighters located in the basement of the home a malfunctioning heater motor. Firefighters shut down the heating unit and provided ventilation to remove the smoke from inside the residence. Engine 11-1 and Tower 44 remained on the scene until the smoke was cleared from inside the home. Medical personnel attended to a resident of the home who was overwhelmed by the situation. Firefighters remained on the scene until 21:31 hours. Units operating on the scene were: Tower 44, Engine 11-1, Engine 13-2 (Rutledge), Tower 14 (Swarthmore), Engine 44-2, Engine 11-2, Engine 13-1, Engine 14-2, Medic 102 (Taylor Hospital), Medic 102B, Ambulance 14-7, Morton Police and Fire Police. |
