Assist to Clifton Heights at Clam Tavern Restaurant Fire

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on alarm #04-012 on Wednesday, January 7th, at 12:40 hours to assist Clifton Heights Fire Company (Company 03) at 339 East Broadway Avenue for a Working Building Fire.  The call was initially received as an Automatic Fire Alarm which dispatched Company 03, Company 74 (Primos Secane) and Company 19 (Lansdowne).  The call was upgraded to a Building Fire upon arrival of Chief 03-9 and Pipeline 19.

Firefighters had heavy smoke showing upon arrival and Pipeline 19, returning from a call in Lansdowne, arrived first and went into service with an 2" hose line.  Quint 03 arrived and assisted Pipeline 19.  Firefighters had fire showing inside the restaurant area of the building and fire running up walls to the second floor office area.

Firefighters from Engine 44-1 and Tower 44 assisted with ventilation and checking for fire extension.  Rescue 44 was used for the Air Bank.

Firefighters quickly controlled the fire and performed extensive salvage and overhaul operations. 

Firefighters remained on the scene for over two hours.

Companies operating on the scene were:  Company 03 (Clifton), Company 74 (Primos Secane), Company 19 (Lansdowne), Company 44, Medic 103-7B and Clifton Heights Police.
