Assist to Media Fire Company on North Olive Street House Fire

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Monday, January 5th, at 15:33 hours to assist Media Fire Company (Company 23) on a Working Structure Fire at 509 North Olive Street, Media Boro.  First arriving units had heavy fire on the first floor of a two story dwelling.  Media Fire Company and Rose Tree Fire Company (Company 73) were dispatched for the working fire at 15:24 hours. 

Squrt 23 went into service with a 3” hose line and knocked the bulk of the fire down and then advanced a 2” hose line into the first floor. Quint 73 arrived on the scene and assumed ventilation and search operations.  Engine 23-2 picked up the 5" supply line of Squrt 23.  23 Command had Company 41 dispatched for the Rapid Intervention Team and Company 44 for additional manpower.

Tower 44 arrived on the scene and was ordered to the roof to provide ventilation of the roof area.  The bulk of the fire was knocked down in minutes and crews spent the remaining time opening the walls and ceilings checking for fire extension.

Additional companies assisting on scene included Brookhaven Fire Company (Company 52), Concordville Fire Company (Company 59), Feltonville Fire Company Canteen (Company 47) and Lima Fire Company Ambulance (Company 69).
