Change Your Clocks, Change Your Batteries

Springfield Fire Company would like to remind residents on Sunday, October 26th, it is time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors.  Springfield Fire Company joins in the national effort of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, Energizer batteries and Fire Departments across the country to remind residents of this life saving act.

Changing the batteries in your smoke detectors when you change your clocks from daylight to standard savings time in the fall helps to ensure that a fresh battery is protecting you and your family.  When changing the battery, also take the time to clean and test the detector to make sure the new battery and detector are working properly.  Springfield Fire Company urges all residents to take these other fire safety precautions - practice good housekeeping, keep matches and lighters away from children and plan and practice a home escape plan.

Any residents that might require assistance with changing the batteries are asked to call Springfield Fire Company at (610) 544-0260  between 8am-4pm weekdays, Tuesday and Thursday evenings after 7pm or Saturday morning between 9:30am and 11am or e-mail Springfield Fire Company (webmaster@springfieldfd.com) with your name, address and telephone number.  We ask that you have brand new batteries ready for the firefighters to install.
