Firefighters Competition at Rose Tree Park

Springfield Firefighters competed in the Delaware County Firefighters Competition on Saturday, September 6th, at Rose Tree Park, Upper Providence Township.  This was the first Firefighters Competition in Delaware County in over 5 years.  The Competition is being held to help raise funds for a Firefighters and EMS Personnel Memorial at Rose Tree Park to honor all those firefighters and EMS personnel who gave their lives in the line of duty in Delaware County.  The event was organized and hosted by the Delaware County Fire and EMS Association.

Four events were run through out the day which included:  the Hose Laying Competition, Deck Gun Scramble, Bucket Brigade and the Iron Man Competition.  All the events were timed events with trophies being awarded to the top finishers.

Springfield Firefighters placed 2nd overall in the Hose Laying Competition, 3rd in the Deck Gun Scramble, 3rd in the Bucket Brigade and 3rd Best overall Company.  Broomall Fire Company won the top overall Company and was awarded the Choice Marketing "Delco Cup" for 2003.

Firefighters from over 10 Fire Companies through out the county competed in the events and a good time was had by all the participants.  Everyone is looking forward to next year and another shot at the "Delco Cup".
