Girl Scout Troop 163 Visits Firehouse to Donate Bears Springfield Fire Company had some special visitors on Thursday, October 23rd at the firehouse. Girl Scout Troop 163 of Springfield visited the firehouse to make a donation and also help with some cleaning. The girl scouts and some parents received a tour of the firehouse and all the fire fighting equipment. They were reminded about many valuable fire prevention tips for their homes and they also learned about all the emergencies and training that Springfield firefighters are involved in throughout the year. The girl scouts also got their hands dirty by helping the firefighters wash TAC 44 during the Thursday night Work Session. Before the visit was over, Girl Scout Troop 163 presented Springfield Fire Company with 25 bears that they hand made at the Build-A-Bear store in the Springfield Mall. The bears will be used by Springfield Fire Company members on emergency incidents as Emergency Care Bears. The bears are given to children involved in emergency incidents as comfort bears to calm them during a very difficult time.
Springfield Fire Company would like to thank Girl Scout Troop 163 and their parents for visiting the firehouse and for the very special donation. |
