Proper Use of Seatbelts and Child Car Seats Makes the Difference Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Alarm #03-748 on Sunday, October 5th, at 13:26 hours to South State Road and Meetinghouse Lane for a Motor Vehicle Accident with possible entrapment and a vehicle on fire. Springfield Police and Chief 44-9 arrived on the scene with a three vehicle accident with one vehicle overturned, no entrapment. The vehicle fire was controlled with an extinguisher by a civilian prior to the Fire Department's arrival. TAC 44 arrived on the scene and controlled all hazards and assisted EMS. Medic 106 (Springfield Hospital) and Ambulance 44-7 started triage on six people with various injuries, none life threatening. Chief 44-9 had three additional ambulances dispatched to assist at the scene. Ambulance 44-7A, Ambulance 53-7 (Marple Township), and Ambulance 23-7 (Media) assisted at the scene. Even with the extensive damage to all three vehicles involved in the accident, serious injuries were avoided thanks to the proper usage of seatbelts and child car seats. Firefighters remained on the scene until 14:53 hours. Units operating on the scene were: TAC 44, Rescue 44, Ambulance 44-7 & 44-7A, Ambulance 53-7A, Ambulance 23-7, Medic 106, Medic 53, Springfield Police and Fire Police. |
