Springfield Township Residents - Hurricane Isabel Alert

September 18th, 2003

Springfield Residents,

The members of Springfield Fire Company, Springfield Police Department, Springfield Ambulance Corps and Springfield Township Emergency Management would like to remind residents of actions to be taken in case of an emergency during the impending Hurricane Isabel.

We would like to remind residents that if they feel that something is an emergency or feel uneasy about a possible problem to call 911 immediately.  Being able to respond earlier to any emergency helps us, the emergency responders, greatly.

With the major effects of Hurricane Isabel possibly affecting our area in the night time hours of Thursday, September 18th, precious seconds could be lost if any emergency is delayed to the 911 center.  Those precious seconds can make a difference.

Springfield Township’s Municipal Building, 50 Powell Road, will be used as an evacuation center and Springfield Township does have an Emergency Operations Plan which will be used in case the effects are wide spread and require the use of numerous agencies and resources.

We thank you for your time in this matter and we look forward to keeping all our residents safe and secure during this period.

Sincerely,

J. Lee Fulton, Director, Springfield Township Emergency Management
