Springfield Assists Media on West 7th St. House Fire

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Alarm # 03- 647 on Saturday, September 6th, at 20:50 hours to Assist Media Fire Company (Company 23) at 28 West 7th Street for a Working House Fire.  Firefighters from Company 23 and Company 73 (Rose Tree) arrived on the scene and had heavy smoke showing from a two story dwelling.  Firefighters located the fire in the basement but had fire running up the walls in the first and second floor.  Company 23 Command had Company 41 (Newtown Square) dispatched for the Rapid Intervention Team and Company 44 dispatched for Tower 44.

Firefighters from Company 23 and Company 73 were able to quickly contain the fire in the basement and worked to control the fire inside the walls on the first and second floors of the home.  Firefighters from Tower 44, Engine 44-2 and Rescue 52 assisted with manpower on the fire ground, checking for fire extension inside the walls and assisted with salvage and overhaul operations.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 23:05 hours.

Units operating on the scene were:  Squrt 23, Snorkel 23, Quint 73, Rescue 73, Engine 23-2, Rescue 41 (Rapid Intervention Team), Tower 44, Engine 44-2, Rescue 52 (Brookhaven - Air Bank), Ambulance 23-7, Ambulance 23-7A, Medic 23 and Media Police.
