Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Alarm #03-592 Wednesday, August 13th, at 10:28 hours for a Dwelling Fire in the 300 Block of Bennett Road.  Upon arrival of Springfield Police and Chief 44-9B, smoke was showing inside the residence and the occupants of the house had evacuated the dwelling.  The homeowner was reporting a fire in the living room area.

Engine 44-1 arrived on the scene and went into service with an 1 3/4" hose line.  Firefighters had a working fire in the living room and quickly controlled the fire and contained it to the living room area.  Heavy smoke was throughout the home.  Firefighters from Engine 44-2 and Quint 03 (Clifton Heights) assisted firefighters from Engine 44-1 with ventilation.

Ambulance 44-7A and Medic 106 evaluated all the residents of the home.

The quick actions of the homeowner to call 911, evacuate the home and await the fire company's arrival helped save lives, prevented injuries and reduced damage to the home.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 11:28 hours.

Units operating on the scene were:  Engine 44-1, Quint 03, Engine 44-2, Ambulance 44-7A, Medic 106 (Springfield Hospital), Springfield Police, Fire Police and Springfield Township's Fire Marshal.
