Springfield Firefighter Serving in Kuwait

Springfield Fire Company members salute fellow Firefighter Brad Flynn.  Airmen First Class Bradford Flynn is currently serving in the U.S. Air Force in Kuwait.

Firefighter Flynn joined Springfield Fire Company in November, 1997.  An active firefighter with the Fire Company for more than three years, Brad has achieved numerous training levels within the fire company and completed National Firefighter I Certification.  Brad was always among the top responders in the company before joining the U.S. Air Force.

Brad graduated from Springfield High School, Class of 2000.  He joined the Air Force on February 5, 2001.  Upon graduation, Airmen Flynn was assigned to the Minot Air Force Base (North Dakota) - 5th Security Forces Squadron for the protection of Nuclear assets and installation law enforcement on June 30th, 2001.

Airmen Flynn arrived in Kuwait on June 30th, 2003.  He is currently at the Al Jaber Air Base in Kuwait.  His mission there is a joint military operation in support of Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom to Iraq.  He is assigned to the 332nd Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron along with the 373rd Military Police Unit (Marines) in protection of priority resources on the base to ensure maximum security for the operations to and from Iraq.

Brad is scheduled to be promoted to Senior Airmen/E-4 (SrA) on August 6th, 2003 through the Below-the-Zone program.  The Below-the-Zone program encompasses Airmen to be selected from a board of non-commissioned officers
of the Airmen's administrative staff.  They look into the time airmen have been on station until the close out date for promotion 6 months ahead of the schedule time
period.  They look into off duty community involvement, volunteer work, job knowledge, and education/career enhancement training.  Airman Flynn will be promoted 6 months ahead of his actual promotion date for fulfilling the requirements listed below:

Off duty before being assigned in Kuwait,, Airmen Flynn volunteered his time with the Minot Hockey Boosters Program, helping youth develop skills in the game of Ice Hockey.  He is also a member of the Minot Air Force Base Ice Hockey Team.  He also volunteers as a member of the Minot Rural Fire Department, Minot, ND.  Airmen Flynn has taken courses through the North Dakota Criminal Investigations Bureau in Interviewing and Interrogations, Domestic Violence training, Drug trends in the U.S., and Verbal Judo.
