Young Driver Causes Big Mess

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Alarm #03-542 on Monday, July 21st, at 03:30 hours for a Wires Down Call in the 600 Block of North Bishop Avenue.  Upon arrival of TAC 44, five vehicles were involved in an accident and one PECO Energy utility pole was down on the ground.

Springfield Firefighters were advised by Springfield Police that there was no injuries and that PECO Energy was already notified.  Firefighters stood by until PECO secured the power and provided lighting for the Police Department.

The driver that caused all the mess was reported to be an unlicensed, under age driver.  His car struck three parked cars in the 600 block of North Bishop Avenue and the fourth car was damaged by the PECO utility pole.  The driver was found by Springfield Police in the Drexel Hill area a short time after the incident.  The Police department is investigating the accident.

Firefighter remained on the scene until 05:00 hours.

Units operating on the scene were:  TAC 44 and Springfield Police.
