Tree Falls Onto Member's House

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Alarm # 03-519 on Friday, July 11th to the 200 Block of Parham Road for a Tree onto a House with a possible Residential Rescue.  Upon arrival of Chief 44-9B and Rescue 44, no rescue was needed because all the residents were accounted for.  Firefighters secured the area and checked the houses that were involved.  Firefighters checked all the utilities and cleared away some of the tree to gain access to the properties.

A large tree had fallen onto two houses, including the house of one of Springfield Fire Company members, Captain Edward Abel, Jr.  Captain Abel, Jr. and his family were not home at the time and luckily no one was injured when the tree came down.  Damage to both homes was moderate and two vehicles parked on the street suffered some damage from the incident.

Firefighter remained on the scene until 17:51 hours.

Units operating on the scene were:  Rescue 44, Ambulance 44-7A, Medic 106 (Springfield Hospital), Springfield Police and Fire Police.
