Holiday Weekend Accident Claims One Life Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Alarm# 03-508 on Sunday, July 6th, at 16:19 hours to Baltimore Pike and Church Road for a Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment. Chief 44-9 arrived on location with four vehicles involved and confirmed entrapment of one occupant and requested the Paramedic to expedite his response. TAC 44 arrived on the scene and assisted Medic 106 (Springfield Hospital) with the occupants of one vehicle. Firefighters stabilized the vehicle and were preparing to extricate the driver of one vehicle. The extrication was stopped because the driver's injuries were fatal. Firefighters assisted EMS with removal of the passenger of the same vehicle. Firefighters from TAC 44 and Rescue 44 assisted EMS with two other injured subjects. Springfield Ambulance 44-7 and Medic 106 transported one person to Crozer Chester Medical Center and two people were transported to Springfield Hospital by Springfield Ambulance 44-7A. Firefighters remained on the scene until 17:26 hours. The accident is under investigation by Springfield Township Police Department. Units operating on the scene were: TAC 44, Rescue 44, Ambulances 44-7 & 44-7A, Medic 106, Medic 101 (Crozer Supervisor), Medic 102A (Taylor Hospital), Springfield Police and 6th District Fire Police, Swarthmore Police and Delaware County Medical Examiner. |
