Accident on the Pike Causes Multiple Injuries

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Saturday, May 31st at 20:38 hours for a Motor Vehicle Accident at Baltimore Pike and East Leamy Avenue.  Upon arrival of Springfield Police, two vehicles were involved in a head on collision and there were multiple injuries.

TAC 44 arrived on the scene and assisted Medic 106 (Springfield Hospital) with assessment on numerous subjects.  Firefighters secured all hazards at the scene and assisted EMS units with patient care.  Rescue 44 arrived on the scene and assisted with scene lighting and patient care.

Ambulance 44-7, Medic 102-7 (Taylor Hospital), Ambulance 14-7 (Swarthmore), Ambulance 03-7 (Clifton Heights), Medic 103-7B (Delaware County Memorial Hospital) and Medic 101 ( Crozer Supervisor) all assisted at the scene and transported a total of 7 victims to Crozer Chester Medical Center and Springfield Hospital.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 21:08 hours.

Units operating on the scene were:  TAC 44, Rescue 44, Ambulance 44-7, 14-7, 03-7, Medic 106, Medic 102-7, Medic 103-7B, Medic 101, Springfield Police and Fire Police.

This was the second multiple injury accident on Baltimore Pike in Springfield Township in two days.  Firefighters handled a 5 car accident on Friday at Baltimore Pike and Norwinden Drive where 5 people were treated for injuries.
