Kitchen Fire Injures Resident Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Sunday, May 18th at 19:06 hours for a House Fire at 216 North Highland Road. Initial calls to the County 911 Center from neighbors reported smoke showing from the front door of the home. Upon arrival of Chief 44-9B and Chief 44-9, smoke was showing from the residence. The source of the smoke was from unattended cooking in the kitchen. Firefighters from Engine 44-1 checked the kitchen area for fire extension and also located one resident inside the home and removed the individual from the home. Personnel from Ambulance 44-7A and Medic 106 (Springfield Hospital) evaluated the individual and transported him to the hospital for observation. Firefighters ventilated the structure. Firefighters remained on the scene until 19:40 hours. Units operating on the scene were: Engine 44-1, Tower 44, Ambulance 44-7A, Medic 106, Springfield Police and Fire Police. |
