Assist to Swarthmore on Accident with Entrapment

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Friday, May 2nd, at 11:47 hours to assist Swarthmore Fire Company (Company 14) at North Chester Road and Ogden Avenue for a Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment.  Swarthmore Police arrived on the scene and had a two vehicle accident with one car on its side with the driver trapped and advised Chief 14-9 to expedite the response.

Firefighters from Company 14, Company 13, and Company 11 stabilized the vehicle that was on its side, while firefighters from Rescue 44 and Rescue 51 prepared for the extrication.

Medical personnel from Medic 102 (Taylor Hospital) and Ambulance 14-7 stabilized the driver of the vehicle while firefighters performed a coordinated rescue operation.  Firefighters cut some of the roof posts and the roof to allow the roof to be folded down to remove the driver.

The driver was transported to Crozer Chester Medical Center.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 13:21 hours.

Units operating on the scene were:  Engine 14-2, Rescue 44, Engine 13-2, Tower 14, Engine 14-1, Engine 11-2, Rescue 51, Ambulance 14-7, Medic 102, Medic 102-7, Swarthmore Police and Sixth District Fire Police.
