Five Car Accident with One Entrapment and Vehicle Fire Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Friday, April 4th, at 18:52 hours for a Motor Vehicle Accident at South State Road and West Sproul Road. Upon arrival of personnel from Springfield Police, the call was upgraded to a five car Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment and a Vehicle Fire. Chief 44-9 arrived on the scene and established command. TAC 44 arrived on the scene and went into service with an 1 3/4" hose line to quickly control the fire in the engine compartment of one vehicle. Firefighters also started stabilization on another vehicle that had one person trapped. EMS personnel provided care for the trapped subject while firefighters from TAC 44 and Rescue 44 worked to extricate the subject. Command requested the Helicopter to the accident scene but it was not available due to poor weather conditions. Firefighters removed the two passenger-side doors and center roof post to extricate the trapped subject. Two people were transported to Crozer Chester Medical Center for Trauma injuries. Two other individuals were transported to Springfield Hospital for minor injuries. The accident is under investigation by Springfield Township Police. Firefighters remained on the scene until 20:28 hours. Units operating on the scene were: TAC 44, Rescue 44, Engine 44-1, Ambulance 44-7 & 44-7A, Medic 106 (Springfield Hospital), Medic 53 (Marple), Springfield Police and 6th District Fire Police. |
