Car Strikes Township Trash Truck

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Tuesday, April 1st, at 07:38 hours for a Motor Vehicle Accident at Baltimore Pike and Saxer Avenue.  Upon arrival of Springfield Police the accident was upgraded to a Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment.

TAC 44 arrived on the scene with a three vehicle accident involving a Township Trash Truck and had the driver of one vehicle that needed to be extricated.

Firefighters stabilized the vehicle and started working on removing the driver.  Chief 44-9 had Rescue 20 (Garrettford-Drexel) dispatched due to the limited manpower on the scene.

Firefighters were able to quickly extricate the driver and Ambulance 44-7A and Medic 106 (Springfield Hospital) transported the driver to Crozer Chester Medical Center.  Rescue 20 was recalled prior to their arrival on scene.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 08:06 hours.

The accident is under investigation by Springfield Police Department.

Units operating on the scene were:  TAC 44, Engine 44-2, Rescue 44, Ambulance 44-7A, Medic 106, Springfield Police and Fire Police.
