Car Fire Inside Auto Repair Garage

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Thursday, March 27th, at 12:36 hours for a Car Fire inside the Garage Area of Rothrock Chevrolet, 780 Baltimore Pike.  Upon arrival of Springfield Police and Chief 44-9, smoke was showing from the garage area of the building.

Chief 44-9 reported that the fire had been contained by employees using a dozen fire extinguishers.  Engine 44-1 arrived on the scene and pulled a 1" booster hose line for precaution.  Firefighters used the Thermal Imaging Camera to check the vehicle and the shop area for any possible fire extension.

Firefighters from Engine 44-1, Tower 14, Engine 14-2 (Swarthmore), Engine 11-1 (Morton) and Engine 13-2 (Rutledge) assisted with ventilation of the repair shop and showroom areas of the building.

Two employees suffered minor smoke inhalation and refused treatment.  The vehicle sustained moderate fire damage and the building sustained smoke damage.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 13:24 hours.

Units operating on the scene were:  Engine 44-1, Engine 44-2, Tower 14, Engine 14-2, Engine 11-1, Engine 13-1, Ambulance 44-7A, Medic 106 (Springfield Hospital), Springfield Police and Fire Police.
