Firefighters Extricate Driver in Accident on I-476 Springfield Fire Company was dispatched with South Media Fire Company (Company 51) on Thursday, March 6th, at 19:28 hours for a Motor Vehicle Accident on I-476 Southbound at Mile Marker 4.4. Upon arrival of TAC 44 and Chief 51-9, two separate accidents had occurred on the highway. The first accident was minor in nature, but the second accident required the extrication of the driver of the vehicle. Firefighters from Rescue 51, Rescue 44 and TAC 44 worked to extricate the driver by removing the roof of the vehicle and driver-side center roof post and rear door. Firefighters worked quickly to complete the extrication while personnel from Medic 102-7 (Taylor Hospital) and Ambulance 44-7 treated the driver. Firefighters had the driver extricated within 30 minutes and the subject was transported to Crozer Chester Medical Center. Firefighters remained on the scene until 20:25 hours. Units operating on the scene were: Rescue 51, Rescue 44, TAC 44, Ambulance 44-7, Medic 102-7 and Pennsylvania State Police. |
